The

Author

Jordan Dodge did not like reading or writing when he was younger, which is ironic–you know– because now he’s an author. This hatred came from the dreaded ‘reading logs,’ where classmates got to flaunt their reading prowess. Jordan usually ended the year with five or six stickers next to his name, when his peers had hundreds. So you can imagine why he didn’t love reading. It was too much work, and there was always someone better at it than him.

While he didn’t enjoy reading or writing, Jordan did love adventure–or at least the idea of it. That love grew out of the movies he watched as a child. Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Jumanji, Ghostbusters, Zorro. These are a few of the movies that fed Jordan’s love for adventure. They planted seeds that would grow into a passion for storytelling.

A conversation with a certain professor showed Jordan something powerful about reading and writing that he hadn’t considered: it broadens our perspectives. Despite living in a specific time, in a specific class, and in a specific region, Jordan could see life through others’ eyes. This sparked something in Jordan. Literature no longer felt boring. It felt like an invitation to explore uncharted worlds. It felt like an invitation to grow his perspective.

Now, Jordan Dodge gets to share that joy with others. In his day job, Jordan is an 8th-grade English teacher in Oklahoma. He strives to show his students the beauty and power of literature. At night, Jordan Dodge is an author. He writes stories inspired by his life experiences and love for adventure. He hopes his writing can inspire readers in the same way other authors’ writing has inspired him.

He has written his first novel and is working on getting it published. Jordan is always working on pruning his many ideas for his following novels.
