Eye Scope
With some animals, you don’t want to get too close–which is why we use the eye scope. This particular Eye Scope has been in the 22 Animal Guilder line for five generations!
Medicine Scale
A crucial part of caring for creatures is administering medicine. in the wrong amounts, certain medicines can be deadly, so Animal Guilders use scales like this to get it just right.
Treat Container
Anyone who works with animals knows a treat goes a long way. This container can hold all kinds of treats such as meat sticks, turnips, gooble pellets, and jelly beans.
Enclosure Keys
You wouldn’t want your Griffin’s getting out and terrorizing your dingbats, now would you? So having the keys handy helps keep the Animal Guilder from loosing his or her mind. Especially when it comes to those Borthogs. They’re a nuisance.
Powder Cup
Like the medicine Scale, the Powder Cup is used in measuring just the right amount of something. Some animals need supplements, and this tool’ll do the trick.
Plyers
Sometimes the Jackalope’s will tease the Porcupus. We all know how nasty a Porcupus quill is–especially to the face. So the players help with splinters, quills, and other situations where something needs removing.
Level
You wouldn’t think it, but a level is important to an Animal Guilder. Some animals need to keep a flat enclosure–or they’ll get to sea sick. We mostly just use this on the ship with the Toukies.
Wax Melter
As you might imagine, a room full of creatures on the hull of a ship can get smelling quite rank. To help, melting wax can make the air a little less horrible.
Binoculars
Some animal behaviors can’t be observed up close. So to get an even better view than you do with an Eye Scope, you gotta use Binoculars. Especially the territorial rituals of the Sprites. Now that’s a hoot.
Notebook
As much as it’s no fun, a good Animal Guilder’s gotta keep records like what each animal eats, what kind of exercise it needs, how to groom it, etc.. So a good notebook is a must.
Lamp
It takes a lot of work tending for all these creatures, and sometimes that work takes you late into the night. So a good lamp’ll keep the work going as long as it takes.
Smoke Pipe
Certain insects that we care for are more vicious than a hungry selbidy toddler. To tame them (the insects, not the toddlers) smoke is used to put them into a gentle sleep just long enough for us to clean their enclosure without getting stung like a pin cushion.
Creatures
Dugroot
Found in cave systems all around Acacia, the Dugroot is a solitary creature that is most known for its stubborn nature and territorial behavior. The Dugroot eats mosses and mushrooms and can grow to over 2,000 pounds. Evidence suggests the Dugroot can live up to 500 years.
Porcupus
A pronged cephalopod found on the southern coastal beaches of Acacia, the Porcupus is a dangerous creature to come into contact with. Its sharp spines can be ejected at great velocity. Unlike the regular octopus, the Porcupus survives just as well out of the water as it does in the water. They feed primarily on smaller crabs and snails.
Dingbat
Most well-known for their distinctive call, which sounds much like a ringing bell, the Dingbat is a creature found commonly in caves and crevices throughout Acacia. The Dingbat’s long tail enables it to perform complex maneuvers, and its sharp horned snout enables it to defend itself from predators and other competing dingbats.
Grawlf
Don’t let the Grawlf deceive you, it is one of the most mischievous creatures in an animal Guilder’s care. Their complex social hierarchy and desire for attention lead them to acts of utter bufoonery. They live in hives constructed in the highest parts of the forest canopy.
Rattlepede
A cave explorer’s worst luck. The nasty creatures hang down from the ceiling and grasp at anything they can, which they will hold onto, and never let go. Some caves have been rumored to be so full of the creatures, travelers got caught, and the little beasts didn’t let go till the travelers were a pile of bones.
Snooze Snail
A very useful creature–The Snooze snail, as you might imagine, produces a very potent sleeping draft when prepared properly. This can be used in tranquilizers and other medicines. These creatures are found most commonly beneath boulders in the Oaken foothills.
Mamoth tarantula Eggs
Spider fearers beware. This rare specimen is one of the largest spider species in all the realms. According to legend, these spiders were used as pack animals to transport goods in a long-lost culture. As far as it is known, these are the last remaining eggs. It can take hundreds of years for them to hatch.
Flosty Egg
Little is known about the Flosty, as it is one of the rarest creatures in Acacia. The last known Flosty was recorded in a long-muddled myth. The common understanding today is that the Flosty was a bird-like serpentine creature with illuminated scales and two dagger-like horns at the crest of its head. History has long forgotten the amount of time it takes for a Flosty egg to hatch.
